چکیده

Political science provides two very different takes on how the information revolution affects the relationship between governments and global civil society. The more popular and prominent argument is that the Internet dramatically lowers the costs of networked communication; therefore, civil society groups are better able to mobilize action to influence governments. Countless numbers of articles have been written about how the Internet has facilitated social movements to block the Multilateral Agreement on Investment and other proposed interstate agreements. Decentralized forms of civil society are particularly likely to thrive in the Internet age. The coordination of world wide protests that took place in the run-up to the Second Gulf War would is one example of this phenomenon. The growth of the blogosphere as a force in American politics is only the latest manifestation of this trend.

Validity of routine clinical test weighing as a measure of the intake of breast-fed infants.

Routine clinical test weighing was carried out on 100 bottle-fed infants to assess the accuracy of the procedure; the feed intake was measured by weighing the feeding bottles before and after feeding. Chapter 1 THE BALANCE OF REASON ∗

I. Western conceptions of rationality have been dominated by one image: that of the balance. According to this image, human rationality rests essentially on our capacity of weighing. Animals react instinctively and emotively to their environment and to their impulses. Humans, on the contrary, are able to escape from the influence of immediate stimuli (external or internal) thanks to their capac...
